new face?

Kai has been making a mysterious new face these last few days......it's half smile, half scared look? But the thing is, he is smiling. He is not scared or mad, he is genuinely happy. But why the weird face?

I love all his faces, really I do, but I am hoping this one is not his permanent smile.

So sad on Mother's Day

On Sunday our church, HopeWorks, had a baby dedication for all the babies born in the last year. Well, Kai was there, but I would not say willingly. Poor Mr Kai woke up Sunday with another 102+ fever.. I will spare the details, because after all, it seems all i talk about on here is his illnesses.....perhaps that's because that's our life these days!!! He was dressed up pretty cute and he hair was all curly and California boyish. But the dude was just sick.....as is evident in these pics. Oh well, all that matters is that tam and i remember that day, and the promise that we made to the Lord to teach kai to know him.

well saturday we thought maybe kai would be ready to take his first dip in the pool. with temps as high as they have been, we figured the pool would be ready to go. Now truthfully, I thought it was a little bit cold, but as the day got warmer and warmer, it got more and more pleasant in the water. we dipped Kai in, and he kinda gasped, i think he was taken aback.


to say that kai loved the water is an understatement. i think we have a water baby on our hands. he was so cute and fun to watch. he just kept smiling so big and waiving his hands around. anytime i would act like i was removing him from the water, he started to panic. i am so glad he's old enough to enjoy the pool this summer. I remember last summer he was a newborn, and i thought to myself "next summer he'll love the pool"...thinking that was so far away....I cannot believe how fast time goes by.

No way!! Kai is 10 months old

well he actually turned 10 months on Sunday (5/6). I was out of town Friday and Saturday with my two best friends visiting one of our best friends from college. We went to Newport Beach, CA for the whole weekends and it was so fun! It was VERY hard for me to be away from Kai this long, but I made it through the weekend with out any breakdowns. Kai and his daddy had a great boys weekend, it included some lounging by the pool, breakfast at Waffle House and lunch in Dallas with one of dad's friends on Saturday.

10 months came so quick!! I swear it seems every time I look up, he's another month older. This last month had included another ear infection, a HORRID diaper rash, couple more fevers....same old same old.......BUT also so much fun with kai! He's getting to be a little more verbal (not really). He's just added Da Da and Ga Ga to the regular Ba Ba he was saying for a while. He's eating lots more foods and still seems to like most everything.

Kai is not yet walking, but I am very ok with that..Kai gets where he needs to be, trust me. He is still a great sleeper, most nights 8 until about 7ish. Pretty darn good if you ask me.
